PROFILE
Dr. Hannah Mugure Kamano is a lead Food Science and Technology researcher with over 15 years of experience in research - food safety, food production systems, product development, training, nutrition related studies and business incubation models. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, MSc. and BSc. in Food Science and Technology from the same University. She also holds a diploma in IMIS (Management of Information Systems) from Strathmore University. She is currently a senior research scientist at the Kenya Industrial Research & Development Institute (KIRDI). In her current position, her key role is formulating, planning, and implementing industrial research projects of multidisciplinary nature. She has specialized in mycotoxin research (particularly aflatoxin) and plasma technology (decontamination and detoxification functions). She has published in international peer reviewed journals and contributed to many forums both locally and internationally including studies and consultancies. Additionally, she has authored several policy briefs related to food safety, security and nutrition.
