Joshua Ombaka Owade is an accomplished food scientist with over 7 years of hands-on experience in both academia and research. He is the current assistant secretary of Food science and Technology Platform of Kenya. Currently working as a postdoctoral Research Associate, he is affiliated with the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and the Department of Biosystems Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University in the United States.
Dr. Owade earned his Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, in 2021, specializing in Process Optimization and Product Development. Prior to his doctoral studies, he obtained an M.Sc. in Food Safety and Quality and BSc. Food Science and Nutrition from the same university.
Before joining Michigan State University, Dr. Owade held a significant position as the deputy programme head and research fellow for the Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Security Programme at the African Centre for Technology Studies in Kenya. He has also contributed his expertise as a research assistant at the Food and Nutrition Evaluation Laboratory at the International Potato Centre in sub-Saharan Africa.
